How To Build Your Own Website For Profit

by Tem Balanco

Believe it or not, it can be so easy to build your own website in as little as a weekend. The tools that are available today make it easy for the novice to create a site without too much trouble. All you need is an up-to-date computer, basic computer and problem solving skills, fast and reliable Internet connection and a secure way to pay online. If you have all these, you can build your own website in a weekend.

To start off with you would need to decide why and what you would put on a website. Perhaps you want to display pictures to family and friends, maybe you will want to discuss your life or maybe you would just like people to comment on your guestbook. Either way, go the Internet Service Provider you use to get on the internet and inquire about whether any of their plans include your own personal website.

In general, ISPs will provide their residential customers with a space where they can build and host a personal webpage free of cost. Your ISP will usually provide a few simple tools to help you get started. Choose your photos, follow simple directions to upload them, add some captions to your pictures, and email your friends the location of your new webpage. Simple as that, you have a website.

Let us say you want something a little more professional. Maybe you have a small business you want to tell people about. To start with, you are going to need a name for your website, called a domain name, a place to put the website, called hosting, and a way to build your own website. You can get all of these in one place by selecting a good registrar.

There are countless registrars available today, of varying quality. The easiest way to find one is simply to go to a search engine, type in the word "registrar", and investigate the different companies that come up. Before committing to a single registrar, be sure to investigate their services. Check is they can register a domain name, host it for you, and see what kind of template-based websites and package deals they can provide.

Pick a registrar that has been doing business for some time preferably since the middle 1990's, and if you approve, use them. As time goes by, if you want to stop using them, you can take your domain name to a different registrar, but usually you can't take your website. Keep this in mind, be cautious about how you pick the place where you build your own website if this is your first time.

Once you have chosen the appropriate registrar, spend time picking out a domain name for your website (for example: yourname.com). Be creative and think about what would attract people to your site. Then select the package of your choice. The cost can be anywhere between $10 and $60 per month, depending upon the various services you desire. The registrar will provide online instructions for you. Soon you will have the capability to build your own website according to your preferences for all to see.

It's easier than you think to build your own website over the weekend. Start by deciding what you want to do with your site. Your ISP may offer a basic website for free. For something more professional, like for a small business, you'll need a domain name and hosting. A registrar can give you all this and help you build your site. There are hundreds of registrars.
