One thing that the Internet has done is make it possible to work from home. Every American has the dream of owning their own business. Why don't more people own their own business? Usually because of the initial layout of money or the investment of time that is required at startup.

For the most part many of these problems are eliminated by the internet. With very little cash, no computer knowledge and an idea you can try it out for nearly nothing. If this is so, then why do you only ever hear about those select few who do make real money online?

The answer is truly very simple. They have learned the power of "buzz". That is, they know how to get the word out BEFORE the products ever even enter the marketplace. They advertise, they talk, they blog and they tell you that this is the hottest thing to hit the net since 1991.

Most of the entrepreneurs that work from home make enough to be financially secure and they run the whole thing from the corner of the bedroom. All that is needed are a few things and a good idea to work from home on a regular basis. Here is a short list:

1. Having a computer is essential. You may go to the library however, you have no privacy and it does get tiring. You are not assured of security as when you are on your own computer. Laptops run about $500 now and are a good investment. As you grow your business you can upgrade to a desktop computer that offers you more memory and file storage.

2. You might find that organizational software such as Windows Office is available for $149 and includes such programs as OneNote, PowerPoint, Excel and Word are helpful. You can make sure that your documents are compatible with at least 95 percent of the rest of the online world. Excel is excellent for tracking inventory, pending orders, email addresses, payable and receivables.

3. An idea for a product or service. This is the easy part and should come as naturally as swimming to a fish. Do a little research and see what's out there. Find something that is a bit different or entirely new altogether. Hint: The biggest selling products on the Internet are information products. Simple written material that has educational values.

It has never been easier to work from home than it is right now. The opportunities are endless as well as everywhere. All you need to do is go to one of the major search engines (Yahoo, MSN, Google or Alta Vista) and type "work from home opportunities".

The results will astound you and the choices presented to you will literally stymie the imagination.

You will get so many great ideas this way, it isn't even funny. You might see your own idea already in action. You may not see it at all (that's a good thing!). Either way, you will find all the help you need right there waiting for you.
